Some California residents got $40,000 in grant money to build tiny homes on their properties. AdvertisementAdvertisementThousands of California homeowners got a $40,000 check from the state to build a tiny home in their backyard last year. California is reviving the ADU grant program again, but details are being worked out. Altogether, we paid $124,000 out of pocket, got the $40,000 from the state, and a forgivable loan of $67,500. I paid for the majority of the project with my savings, and the rest with the $40,000 California ADU grant.

Daniel Romo, 61, and his wife Kristin, 63, got a $40,000 grant from California to build an ADU. Dan: We live in Whittier in Southern California and we just transformed our garage into an accessory dwelling unit. At that time, the only way you could get the grant was you had to go through a state-approved vendor. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, our middle daughter and son-in-law and grandson moved in — my daughter's second child was due any day. They were determined that they were going to bring their daughter home to the ADU, not to our house.

Ukraine's domestic security service said it intercepted a phone call proving a Russian "sabotage group" blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric station and dam in southern Ukraine. It posted a recording of what it said was an intercepted telephone call on its official Telegram channel. While one of the men appears to claim a Russian sabotage group was responsible for attacking the dam, he offers no evidence in support. That was our sabotage group. By blowing up the Kakhovka HPP dam, the Russian Federation finally proved that it is a threat to the entire civilized world.

The destruction of the facility on Tuesday unleashed mass flooding, forcing thousands of residents to flee and wreaking environmental havoc. Russia, which has accused Kyiv of destroying the dam, did not immediately comment on its content. That was our sabotage group," said one of the men on the recording, described by the SBU as a Russian soldier. "The interception by the SBU confirms that the Kakhovskaya HPP (Hydroelectric Power Plant) was blown up by a sabotage group of the occupiers," the SBU said in a statement. "The invaders wanted to blackmail Ukraine by blowing up the dam and staged a man-made disaster in the south of our country."

The dam bridged the Dnipro River, which forms the front line between Russian and Ukrainian forces in the south of Ukraine. But Mercedes' F1 collaboration to build more efficient EVs faster is unprecedented because it embeds that racing mindset and technological expertise directly in product development. After decades of leadership in combustion-engine technology, legacy carmakers like Mercedes have lagged Tesla in electric vehicles. Mercedes' F1 team can help it get back in the race, said Steven Merkt, head of transportation solutions at TE Connectivity , a major autos supplier. Last year, Mercedes unveiled its EQXX concept car, a super-efficient EV capable of a range of more than 1,200 km (745 miles), which was jointly developed with the German premium carmaker's F1 team in England.

MANAMA, March 3 (Reuters) - McLaren boss Zak Brown visited Red Bull's factory to discuss a potential Formula One power unit supply when the engine rules change in 2026, Red Bull Racing principal Christian Horner said on Friday. They have also been linked to a return to their former suppliers Honda, who have a partnership deal with Red Bull until 2026. Horner told reporters at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix that Brown had been a visitor to Red Bull Powertrains in Milton Keynes. News of Brown's visit raised some eyebrows given apparently strained relations between the American and Horner last year when Red Bull were found to have breached a budget cap. Without naming Red Bull directly, Brown spoke at the time of excessive spending being effectively cheating.
Vornado says it owns 20 million square feet of office space plus 2.6 million square feet of street retail space in Manhattan alone, 3.7 million square feet at The Mart in Chicago and a controlling stake in almost 2 million square feet of office in San Francisco. But in the New York metropolitan area last week, the rate fell to 46.7% from 47.8% the week before, Kastle said. In San Francisco, the rate was even lower last week, at 43.9%, while in Chicago it was 49.4%. Maybe that's why Deutsche Bank analyst Derek Johnston ranked office REITs last out of eight REIT industry groups in a monthly review released on Tuesday. In January, subsector year-over-year cap rates climbed the most for office owners, he said, up 80 basis points, or 8/10ths of a percentage point.
